Officer shot and killed at North Carolina grocery store.



A North Carolina police officer was shot and killed Saturday morning while responding to a disturbance call at a Walmart grocery store in Shallotte, authorities said.

Officer Rachel/documentation of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office. He responded to the Walmart on North Kingsley Avenue at around 11:30 a.m. for a report of a man with a gun in the store.

As he entered the store, a fight broke out between the man and another customer, and Officer Anderson intervened to help break it up, according to eyewitness accounts. The suspect then turned on the officer and shot him, authorities said.

No details have been released about the motive of the shooting, and the suspect is still at large. The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation, with the help of the FBI.
