NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – The NYPD is searching for a suspect in a brazen robbery that took place after midnight in the Upper East Side.
According to police, the suspect walked into a jewelry store on Lexington Avenue around 12:15 a.m. and demanded that the store owner hand over cash.
The suspect, who was described as a 25-year-old man, was reportedly armed with a baseball bat and a knife.
The store owner handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled the scene.
The NYPD is searching for the suspect, who was also seen fleeing the scene in a black Honda Civic. The car’s license plate was later found to be stolen.
Detectives are reviewing video footage and questioning witnesses in an effort to track down the suspect.
The incident is just the latest in a series of high-profile robberies in the city, with police calling for residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
