Actual and Search Warrants Executed at Home of Former Top NYC Police Official Accused of Sexual Misconduct
Authorities executed search warrants at several locations, including the home of Jeffrey Maddrey, a former top New York City police official, on Thursday. Maddrey resigned last month after being accused of demanding sex from a subordinate in exchange for opportunities to earn extra pay.
Maddrey, a former Chief of Department, was the highest-ranking uniformed officer in the NYPD. He described the relationship as “consensual, adult” and denied allegations of sexual misconduct. An accuser, who was the NYPD’s top earner in fiscal year 2024, pulled in over $400,000, with more than half coming from overtime pay. In a federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint, she alleged that Maddrey engaged in “quid pro quo sexual harassment” by coercing her into “performing unwanted sexual favors in exchange for overtime opportunities.”
An Internal Affairs Bureau investigation is underway, with authorities working in conjunction with law enforcement. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch directed questions to the U.S. Attorney’s office, which declined to comment. Maddrey’s lawyer described the relationship as “consensual, adult” and denied allegations of sexual misconduct.
