Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman addresses team after Sugar Bowl postponed amid terror concerns

Notre Dame Head Coach’s Emotional Message to Team Amid Terror Attack

Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman spoke to ESPN after the Sugar Bowl was postponed due to a terror attack in New Orleans, which left more than a dozen dead. The game will now be played on Thursday evening at 4 p.m. ET.

Freeman revealed that he had a somber message for his team, starting with a moment of mourning and prayer for the country. However, he shifted the focus to preparing for the game, emphasizing the importance of rallying around the city of New Orleans.

“I have a lot of faith we’re going to rally around the city of New Orleans and support all the victims and families that were affected today,” Freeman said.

He added that in times of crisis, a program’s culture is revealed, and he believes his team will come together to support the city. The winner of the game will advance to the College Football Playoff semifinals, where they will face Penn State.

Security will be increased around the Caesars Superdome, with Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry planning to attend the game. The focus of the event has shifted from the game itself to showing support for the community following the devastating terror attack.
