The Deadliest Air Disasters of 2024
This past year, numerous air crashes resulting in fatalities worldwide have shocked aviation enthusiasts and brought attention to air safety concerns. Here are the most severe aerial accidents that unfolded in 2024, showcasing the gravity and impact of the disasters:
Firstly, Jeju Air, a South Korean airline, recorded the deadliest incident on South Korean soil. Their Boeing 737-800 domestic flight, arriving from Bangkok to Muan County, crashed and claimed the lives of all 175 passengers and four of its six crew members.
Brazil recorded two major crash incidents, making it a troublesome year for Brazil’s aviation system. In June, a turboprop engine plane, regional flight 2283, crash-landed in the small town of Vinhedo, resulting in fatalities for all 62 on board. Another catastrophic incident took place in December as a private Cessna carrying 10 individuals crashed into downtown Gramado’s shops, inflicting injuries among the 17 people on the ground and instantaneously killing every person on the plane.
Far from Brazil and South Korea, Kazakhstan bore its own tragic blow. An International flight originating in Baku (Azerbaijan) and operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, Embraer E190, experienced failure and went crashing near the Kazakh city Aktau, putting 39 innocent lives at eternal rest, in addition to some 29 fatalities.
Further air disasters struck neighboring countries like Canada, Nepal, and Thailand during the same month. Malawi’s Vice-President, nine aides, and his former wife found their untimely demise by a military plan crash while transiting to airport Mzuzu. Similarly in Nepal, local airline Saurya Airlines incurred a severe crisis when its scheduled flight tookoff from Kathmandu but veered into flight, ultimately producing 18 of its passengers the ultimate cost along with leaving surviving the pilot
