NJ Drones Mysteriously Disappear When Spotted, Governor Baffled

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy addressed the recent surge of mysterious drone sightings in the state, describing the drones as “very sophisticated” and saying they “go dark” as soon as they are spotted. Despite public frustration, Murphy emphasized that authorities have found no evidence of a threat to public safety.

Murphy disclosed that there were 49 reported sightings on Sunday, primarily in Hunterdon County, and noted that local, state, and federal authorities, including the FBI and Homeland Security, are working together to uncover the drones’ origins. He urged residents to report any sightings to local law enforcement or the FBI, promising transparency.

The drones, often described as large, brightly lit, and loud, have been spotted near military facilities, utility assets, and the president-elect’s home. The Federal Aviation Administration has temporarily restricted drone flights over these locations. Authorities have found no imminent threat, but residents have reported unusual phenomena, including a family’s report of their car clock changing while a drone hovered overhead.

Murphy met with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and other officials last week, and posted on social media that the state is actively monitoring the situation and in close coordination with federal and law enforcement partners. Residents are asked to report any sightings and share any videos or photos they may have of the flights by calling the FBI or submitting it online.
