Niners’ Isaac Guerendo active for Thursday night’s game against the Rams despite foot injury.

San Francisco 49ers Running Back Luck Improves Despite Injury

Isaac Guerendo, the 49ers’ running back, is officially active for Thursday’s pivotal game against the Los Angeles Rams, despite dealing with a foot injury sustained on Sunday. Guerendo, who sprained his foot during the game, was initially listed as a non-participant in Monday’s practice and missed Tuesday’s walkthrough, but was able to practice on a limited basis and was given a questionable designation on Wednesday.

Despite the setbacks, Guerendo will be a key part of the 49ers’ game plan, even if they didn’t need to fully unlock him until recently. Injuries have devastated the 49ers’ backfield this season, with Christian McCaffrey, Elijah Mitchell, and Jordan Mason all suffering significant injuries. During Mason’s absences, Guerendo has shown flashes of potential, and his performance on Sunday – 78 rushing yards, 50 receiving yards, and two scores – may have secured him the starting role.

Guerendo’s availability is a change in narrative for the 49ers, who are desperate to turn their fortunes around. With four games to go, the team is sitting at 6-7, facing long odds to make the playoffs. However, there is still a sliver of hope, and the team will look to expand upon that when they face the Rams on Thursday.
