Nikki Glaser won’t poke fun at Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni at the Globes.

Nikki Glaser, Comedian and New Host of Golden Globes, Vows to Avoid Hot-Button Topics

Comedian and scathing roast comic Nikki Glaser, set to host the Golden Globes for the first time this Sunday, has announced that she will avoid talking about the Justin Baldoni-Blake Lively scandal, which has been dominating Hollywood headlines in recent weeks. Glaser expressed concern that mentioning the controversy might put her on the “wrong side of things,” and instead wants to focus on the positive aspects of the evening.

Glaser also stated that she won’t be making any jokes about Donald Trump, citing that the topic has become “tired” and people are “sick of hearing about it.” This marked a departure from her previously brutal roast appearances, including her set during the Netflix roast of Tom Brady, which she credits for landing her the Globes hosting gig.

As the new host, Glaser promised not to go “as hard as Ricky Gervais,” who hosted the event five times in the past, but instead wants to keep the tone lighthearted while still providing a “great opportunity for celebrities to look cool” by showing they can have a sense of humor about themselves.

Glaser has been rehearsing her monologue at her stand-up shows around the country, tweaking jokes to ensure the perfect delivery for the big night. Her set will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ this Sunday at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.
