Chicago Bears Quarterback Caleb Williams Fuming After Prank by Kids Who Texted Him Believing Detroit Lions Offense Coordinator Had Accepted Head Coaching Job

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams revealed on a recent podcast appearance that he was left fuming after a prank by a group of kids who texted him, convincing him that Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson had accepted the Bears’ head coaching job. The prank was caught on video and quickly went viral, showing Williams, 18, getting on a FaceTime call with the kids, only to realize he’d been duped.

Williams, who has had his phone number for at least 15 years, claimed he was initially upset by the prank and was “fuming” after hanging up the call. He said he didn’t respond to the initial texts and was mad, adding that he wanted to “smash some s–t” after being duped.

However, in a recent appearance on the “St. Brown” podcast with Detroit Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, Williams said he was able to laugh about the encounter, acknowledging it was a “classic prank” and praising the kids for their creativity. Despite the immediate reaction, Williams has since changed his phone number and expressed gratitude for the prank, saying, “I ain’t gonna lie. It was a Grade A, S-tier prank. I gotta give them props. I wasn’t locked in in the moment.”
