NHL Postpones Kings-Flames Game Due to California Wildfires

NHL Game Between Los Angeles Kings and Calgary Flames Postponed Due to Wildfires in Southern California

An National Hockey League (NHL) game between the Los Angeles Kings and the Calgary Flames, set to take place at the Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday night, has been postponed due to the devastating wildfires ravaging Southern California. The game, originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT, was to be the final matchup between the two teams in the 2024-25 season.

The NHL announced the postponement, citing the "devastating effects of the wildfires in the Los Angeles area" and sending their condolences to the Kings, fans, and the local community. The league was set to host Game No. 653, but it will now be rescheduled for a later date.

The Kings will instead play the Winnipeg Jets on Friday, while the Flames will face the Kings in Calgary on Saturday. Saturday’s matchup would have been the final game between the two teams this season.

The decision to postpone the game comes as multiple wildfires burned across Southern California, with high winds grounding aircraft and forcing evacuation orders. As of Wednesday morning, five fires were reported in the area, with multiple fatalities and over 1,000 structures destroyed.

The National Football League (NFL) is also monitoring the situation, as a playoff game is set to take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on Monday, and officials may need to take action depending on the situation.
