A Forgettable Season for Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets
Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills was a complete disaster for Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets. The former Green Bay Packers quarterback had the chance to make history by becoming the fifth player in NFL history to reach 500 touchdown passes, but it didn’t happen.
Rodgers had 475 touchdown passes in his 16-year career with the Packers, and a single touchdown pass would have put him at 500. However, it was a different story on Sunday. He was sacked a season-high four times, including one that resulted in a safety, and was called for an unnecessary roughness penalty out of bounds after his second interception.
Rodgers, 41, was pulled from the game in the fourth quarter with his team trailing 40-0. He finished with a season-low 112 yards passing, threw two interceptions, and had a quarterback rating of 44.0. In a bleak performance, the Jets lost 40-14.
Tyrod Taylor, the Jets’ backup quarterback, did manage to get the team’s only two touchdowns, but it was too little, too late. Rodgers’ search for passing touchdown No. 500 will have to wait until the regular season finale.
The Jets’ season has been a disappointment, and this loss was just another blow to a team that had high expectations with Rodgers returning from his Achilles injury and adding players like ex-Packers wide receiver Davante Adams. It’s a tough season for the 4-12 Jets, and there’s a chance that this could be Rodgers’ final game in a Jets uniform and of his career.
