Atlanta Falcons Punter Bradley Pinion Making a Difference on and Off the Field
Atlanta Falcons punter Bradley Pinion is having a remarkable season, both on and off the football field. Not only is he helping the team maintain its lead in the NFC South and compete for its first division title in nearly a decade, but he is also working to make a difference in the lives of mothers and babies living in extreme poverty in the developing world through his “Punts for Purpose” initiative.
Pinion, 30, and his wife Kaeleigh created the “Punts for Purpose” initiative last season, partnering with Compassion International on a project called “The Fight for First.” The goal of the project is to launch 500 survival centers and raise $7.5 million by the end of the year. For his part, Pinion and his wife will donate $1,000 for every punt that lands within the 20-yard line this season.
The partnership between Pinion and Compassion International is one that is close to his heart, as he and his wife are big believers in the organization’s mission to bring hope and help to vulnerable children around the world. Pinion has been surprised by the response to the initiative, with nearly half of the punters in the league participating last season and collectively raising around $150,000.
Despite the recognition he has received for his work, including being nominated as the Falcons’ 2023 Walter Payton Man of the Year, Pinion is humble about his role as a football player and his ability to use his platform to make a difference. He believes that his talents are a gift that allow him to serve Christ and serve those in need.
The “Fight for First” campaign has already raised over $6.8 million and funded 455 centers, providing prenatal care, nutritious food and clean water, assistance during childbirth, medical treatment, access to medicine and more. Pinion’s efforts demonstrate the impact that one person can have when they are passionate about making a difference and using their platform to serve others.
