NFL legend Drew Brees says Chiefs are never pretenders.

Kansas City Chiefs’ Unorthodox Path to Success Should Come as No Surprise, Says Drew Brees

Despite their impressive 12-1 record, the Kansas City Chiefs have had to rely on dramatic finishes and close calls to get to where they are. In fact, half of their victories have come on the final possession of games, including two walk-off field goals and another where they blocked a field goal attempt to preserve a win. Despite their unorthodox path to success, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and their strong defense have the potential to make a deep playoff run.

According to New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, the Chiefs’ ability to win close games is nothing new. “They’re never pretenders. They got Patrick Mahomes. And that defense is really good,” Brees said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital. “They play complementary style football.”

Brees noted that the Chiefs’ strategy is to win close games during the regular season and then hit their stride in the playoffs. This approach has worked for them in the past, as they won their final six games last season to become the first back-to-back Super Bowl champion in 20 years.

The Chiefs’ upcoming schedule won’t get any easier, as they face a three-game, 11-day stretch due to playing on Christmas. They will also have to play three of their final four games on the road, including their home finale against the Houston Texans. Despite these challenges, Brees believes the Chiefs have what it takes to make another deep playoff run.
