The San Francisco 49ers are set to take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night despite the treacherous weather conditions in the New York area. Highmark Stadium, the home of the Bills, was covered in snow, with fans attempting to shovel out the seats and walkways before the game.

Photos showed fans, dressed in Bills and 49ers gear, trudging through the snow-covered stadium, with some using shovels and snowblowers to clear the area. The game was still scheduled to kick off at 8:20pm ET.

The heavy snowfall was caused by a lake effect snowstorm that hit western New York, with up to three feet of snow reported in some areas. Interstate 90 was shut down due to the storm, which also affected parts of Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The New York State Department of Transportation worked to clear roads around the stadium, with tow trucks on standby to quickly clear any stuck vehicles. Despite the challenges, fans were undeterred, with many seen waving Bills flags and shouting “Go Bills!”

The game was expected to bring an additional one to two feet of snow to western New York, with two to three feet possible in northern parts of the state. The storm was expected to continue affecting the area through the night.
