COACHING CAROUSEL: WHOS STAYING AND GOING IN 2025 SEASON
With the 2024 NFL season officially over, the coaching carousel is in full swing. This article takes a look at which teams are shuffling their coaching staffs, who’s hiring, and who’s staying.
Hirings:
* Atlanta Falcons: Defensively, Atlanta hired Jeff Ulbrich, who was defensive coordinator for the New York Jets. He spent the past four seasons with the Jets, coordinating one of the league’s top defenses.
* Baltimore Ravens: Chuck Pagano is returning to the NFL to become the team’s senior secondary coach. The 62-year-old was once the Ravens’ defensive coordinator before going on to become the Indianapolis Colts’ head coach.
* Chicago Bears: Ben Johnson became the Bears’ head coach and will be overseeing a new defensive coordinator, reported to be Dennis Allen, previously the Saints head coach. Allen will be Johnson’s defensive coordinator. The team also hired Mike Bloomgren, previously the Oakland Raiders’ associate head coach/running backs, as their running backs coach and offensive line coach, Declan Doyle, who was the Denver Broncos’ tight ends coach. The team promoted Eric Bieniemy, once the Kansas City Chiefs’ assistant head coach and offensive coordinator to become their new running backs coach.
Cincinnati Bengals: Noted defensive coordinator Al Golden became the Bengals’ defensive coordinator and the team announced that Scott Peters, previously a New England Patriots offensive line coach, will coach their offensive line.
Cleveland Browns: The Browns promoted Tommy Rees to become their offensive coordinator and are hiring Mike Bloomgren, as their offensive line coach.
Cowboys: New head coach Brian Schottenheimer will be making changes to their staff, one of which being the hiring of Klayton Adams, as their offensive line coach.
