One Jet Left the Hangar this Season: A Look at the Odds for the Next Head Coach
The New York Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh in October, making them the first NFL franchise to make a major move on the sideline this season. With the team struggling at 3-9, attention is turning to who will take over as the next head coach. As of December 4, DraftKings Sportsbook has released odds for the next head coach of the Jets.
Ben Johnson, the current offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions, is the favorite to take the job, with odds of +300. Johnson has been instrumental in the Lions’ success, leading the team to an NFC title game berth last season and averaging 394.8 yards per game (third) and 27.1 points per game (fifth) in 2023.
Former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is also a strong contender, with odds of +300. Vrabel has a proven track record, guiding the Titans to the AFC title game in 2019 and compiling a 46-26 overall record in six seasons as head coach.
Rex Ryan, a former Jets head coach, is third on the oddsboard with +600. Ryan coached the Jets for six seasons, leading the team to back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances in his first two seasons.
Other notable names on the list include Jeff Ulbrich, the current interim head coach of the Jets, and Brian Flores, the defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings.
