New York Police Department Special Victims Unit Searches for Man Suspected of Groping 5-Year-Old Girl near Migrant Shelter

The New York Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is searching for a man suspected of groping a 5-year-old girl near a government-funded migrant shelter in Midtown Manhattan. The alleged incident occurred on December 24 at approximately 7 p.m. at 5th Avenue and 46th Street, about a block away from the Roosevelt Hotel, which has been converted into a migrant shelter and processing hub by the City of New York.

The victim and her mother, who have not been identified, are residents of the migrant shelter funded by the City of New York. The suspect knows the girl and her mother, according to 1010 WINS, a local news source.

The New York Police Department’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information office has confirmed the investigation. The representative declined to release any information on the identity of the suspect, but stated that the incident is under investigation. It is unclear whether the suspect is also a resident of the Roosevelt Hotel migrant shelter.

The alleged groping occurred in an area that has seen a surge in migrant gang activity, with the nearby Roosevelt Hotel serving as an epicenter for much of the gang activity in New York City. The hotel has been the site of violence and crime, with some of the most recent incidents including a string of robberies attributed to juvenile illegal immigrant gang members.
