Kraven the Hunter: Box Office Predictions for Sony’s Spider-Man Universe
Kraven the Hunter, the upcoming R-rated Marvel movie, is on track to break a Marvel movie record for Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, but its box office projections are less than impressive. According to BoxOfficePro, Kraven the Hunter is predicted to earn $20-25 million domestically throughout its first three days in theaters, which is significantly lower than Morbius’ $39 million domestic opening weekend.
The movie is expected to introduce at least three new Spider-Man villains, including Kraven, Rhino, and Chameleon, and will be released just two months after Venom: The Last Dance. However, the Venom franchise has been met with decreasing success, with the previous two movies earning $856 million and $506 million respectively.
The poor box office performance of previous Sony Marvel movies, including Morbius and Madame Web, has raised concerns about Kraven the Hunter’s chances. The movie’s R-rating, which is a first for the Spider-Man Universe, may not be enough to save it from a lackluster reception.
Despite the gloomy outlook, Kraven the Hunter still has a chance to upset expectations. An R-rated comic book film like Joker was a major success, and Kraven the Hunter’s confidence may pay off. However, a poor performance could result in the cancellation of future projects in the Spider-Man Universe.
Kraven the Hunter is set to be released on December 13, 2024, and will be a test for Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. With a lower budget than previous Marvel movies, Kraven the Hunter needs to perform well at the box office to avoid being considered a flop.
