A Large Number of Mysterious Drones Have Been Spotted Flying Over New Jersey
A series of mysterious drones have been reported flying over parts of New Jersey in recent weeks, sparking concerns and confusion among residents and authorities. The drones, which can be as large as 6 feet in diameter, have been spotted in various parts of the state, including the New York City area, New Jersey, and parts of Pennsylvania.
State lawmakers, including Assemblywoman Dawn Fantasia, have met with state police and Homeland Security officials to discuss the sightings, which have been reported by dozens of people. The drones do not appear to be being flown by hobbyists, and most of the reported sightings have been of drones larger than those typically used by recreational users.
The devices have been reported over military and industrial areas, including the Picatinny Arsenal, a U.S. military research and manufacturing facility, and over President-elect Donald Trump’s golf course in Bedminster. Gov. Phil Murphy and law enforcement officials have stressed that the drones do not appear to pose a threat to public safety, and the FBI has launched an investigation into the sightings.
Despite the lack of concrete evidence, some lawmakers have called for more restrictions on who is entitled to fly unmanned aerial devices, while others have asked for military assistance in addressing the situation. At least one state lawmaker has proposed a temporary ban on drone flights in the state.
