FIRST ON FOX: Sen. James Lankford Unveils Bills to Achieve Department of Government Efficiency’s Mission
Senator James Lankford (R-Okla.) has introduced six new bills aimed at supporting the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) mission once President-elect Donald Trump takes office. As a founding member of the DOGE caucus, Lankford seeks to implement policies that streamline regulations, reduce government waste, and increase efficiency.
The senator’s bills focus on various aspects, including:
1. “Improving Federal Financial Management Act,” which aims to evaluate the financial performance of federal agencies and develop plans to improve their metrics.
2. “TRUE Accountability Act,” which would require agencies to develop plans to operate internally during crises.
3. “ACCESS Act,” which prohibits minimum education requirements for government contractor personnel during certain contract discussions.
The senator emphasized that these bills aim to fulfill the public’s mandate for reduced government spending and improved efficiency. As Lankford said, “It’s time to put government waste in the doghouse and let DOGE get to work.”
DOGE, previously announced by Trump, seeks to cut government waste. Billionaire Elon Musk and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy have been tapped to lead the new advisory board. Other senators, such as Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), are also participating in the DOGE caucus to push for regulatory reforms.
