Stefon Diggs’ Future with Texans in Question After ACL Tear

Stefon Diggs’ season with the Houston Texans was cut short after an ACL tear in just his eighth game, leaving his future with the team uncertain. Despite the injury, quarterback C.J. Stroud is hopeful that Diggs will return to the team.

“I would love to have Stef back,” Stroud said. “And man, I think we were just getting started. Like you see he was having so much fun and me and him were starting to build a rapport.”

Diggs signed a revised one-year, $22.52 million contract with the Texans, making him a free agent in 2025. However, his injury may have a significant impact on his market. As a 31-year-old wide receiver, Diggs may be forced to settle for a shorter, prove-it type deal.

In eight games with the Texans, Diggs generated 47 catches on 64 targets for 496 yards with three touchdowns. Despite his production, the injury may have curtailed his market, making it uncertain whether he will return to the team.

Stroud praised Diggs’ leadership and noted that the wide receiver didn’t complain about his targets, instead focusing on winning. “He really just wanted to win. He didn’t care how it looked, he didn’t care how many catches he got,” Stroud said.

The Texans will head into the offseason with questions about how they will revamp their receiver room around star Nico Collins, following season-ending injuries to Diggs and Tank Dell.
