Neil Cavuto departs Fox News after contract negotiations.

Neil Cavuto Leaving Fox News After 28 Years

Neil Cavuto is leaving Fox News after 28 years with the network. His last day on air will be Thursday, when he will bid farewell to viewers on his show, Your World. Cavuto’s contract is up at the end of the month, and he has declined to accept a new deal offered by the network.

Cavuto is one of the few remaining original on-air talent still with Fox News, having joined the network in the late 1990s. His exit is not the result of any bad blood, but rather a reflection of the changing industry reality. Fox News has been affected by the current trend of belt-tightening in the cable news industry, which has led to similar departures of star journalists who have opted to quit their networks rather than take a smaller salary.

Over the years, Cavuto has become known for his iconoclastic views on Fox’s dayside programming, often calling out President-elect Donald Trump and facing his wrath in return. Outside of politics, Cavuto has been open about his battle with multiple sclerosis and has become a vocal critic of Covid vaccine denialism after a second bout of the virus nearly took his life.

Cavuto’s departure is not related to his criticism of Trump, as he has continued to host his show despite occasional disagreements with the President-elect. New programming will be announced on Fox News and Fox Business in the new year, with Your World and Coast to Coast on Fox Business set to be replaced by rotating anchors until new shows debut.

Fox News has issued a statement praising Cavuto’s illustrious career, saying, “Neil Cavuto’s illustrious career has been a master class in journalism, and we’re extremely proud of his incredible 28-year run with FOX News Media.”
