Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Hospitalized After Injury in Luxembourg
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was hospitalized after sustaining an injury while traveling with a congressional delegation in Luxembourg, her office announced on Friday. The 84-year-old Pelosi “sustained an injury during an official engagement and was admitted to the hospital for evaluation,” according to her spokesman Ian Krager.
Pelosi is currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals, Krager said. She is unable to attend the remainder of the congressional delegation’s engagements and is expected to return home to the U.S. soon.
The bipartisan delegation, led by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, was in Luxembourg to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, a pivotal event in World War II. The delegation included 18 lawmakers and was scheduled to participate in observances of the anniversary on Friday and Saturday.
Pelosi conveyed her thanks and praise to veterans and the people of Luxembourg and Bastogne for their service in World War II and their role in bringing peace to Europe. She was personally and officially honored to travel with the delegation, which included many lawmakers who had family members who fought in World War II, including her uncle, Johnny.
