Garrett Frustrated with Lack of Meaningful Games
Myles Garrett, a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, has played for the Cleveland Browns for eight years, but his dreams of playing in meaningful games have been few and far between. Despite being drafted first overall in 2017, the Browns have only made it to the playoffs three times, and Garrett has only played in three postseason games.
This season, the Browns have struggled, with a 1-6 record and a quarterback carousel that has seen five different starters, including Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson. The offense has cratered, with the unit now ranking as the third-worst in the league.
Garrett, who is 28 and has two years left on his contract, is frustrated with the team’s lack of success. “I want to be a Cleveland Brown,” he said. “I want to play here. I want to end my career here. But if we choose to do a rebuild and it’s two, three, four years out, I want to be able to compete and play at a high level, play meaningful games and be playing past January.”
Garrett’s frustration is not limited to the team’s on-field performance. He is also tired of the constant quarterback changes and inconsistency on the roster. “There’s got to be a plan of action,” he said about the quarterback position. “I want to see a plan that involves finding a solution at quarterback.”
If Garrett’s contract is any indication, he is committed to the Browns, but he is also realistic about the team’s current state. “If the plan is to rebuild, I want to be a part of it,” he said. “I want to be able to compete and play at a high level, play meaningful games, and be playing past January.”
