I Have Not Known Where My Son Is for Over a Year: A Father’s Plea to the Next U.S. President
As the father of a 19-year-old American citizen, I have not known where my son Itay is for over a year. He has been held captive by the terrorist group Hamas, along with 100 other hostages, for over 400 days. This has been an eternity for all of us families affected by this crisis.
Despite the negotiated release of half of the hostages, the US and Israel have been unable to secure the release of the remaining hostages, including my son. The US government and the Biden administration have worked tirelessly to facilitate their release, but their efforts have been met with minimal movement.
The upcoming presidential election offers new hope for the release of our loved ones. I implore the next US president to take immediate and decisive action to bring our loved ones back home. The current stalemate cannot continue, as every day that passes puts the hostages’ lives in more danger, threatening US strategic interests in the Middle East and worldwide.
President-elect Trump’s unique leadership and experience in the Middle East, as demonstrated by the Abraham Accords, position him to forge a resolution to this hostage crisis. His proven ability to secure historic agreements and his emphasis on advancing the best interests of the American people make him the ideal leader to break the impasse and secure a deal.
I urge the next president to leverage their experience, influence, and the tools at their disposal to pressure Hamas and its allies and secure the release of my son and the other remaining hostages. This is a call to action for the US to fulfill its promise to protect Americans and to show that its legacy extends beyond borders. My plea is simple: bring my son and the other 100 hostages back home, where they belong.
