Anthony Scaramucci, former White House communications director, believes that Elon Musk is “tempting fate” due to his close ties with President-elect Donald Trump. Scaramucci appeared on CNN’s “The Situation Room” and shared his thoughts on the relationship between the two.
According to Scaramucci, Musk has become a constant presence at Trump’s side since the election, with the billionaire owner of X and CEO of Tesla spending $277 million to get Trump elected. As a reward, Trump designated Musk as co-chair of the “Department of Government Efficiency,” a new advisory commission.
Scaramucci believes that Musk’s influence has reached new levels, with Trump following in his footsteps and opposing a continuing resolution to avoid a government shutdown. This move has led some to label Musk as the “real president” or co-president.
When asked if Scaramucci sees their relationship turning sour, he replied, “He doesn’t like it. But I think what’s happening is he also knows that a lot of the stuff coming from the left is premeditated. And so, that’s what’s shielding him for right now.”
Scaramucci also noted that increased media coverage of Musk makes the billionaire an alluring scapegoat under certain circumstances, stating, “If there’s a problem, he’ll look to blame Elon or somebody else on his team.” He believes that Trump is likely to bring up the issue of Musk’s background only if it bothered him, and that the honeymoon period between the two is currently ongoing.
