MSNBC Contributor Jennifer Rubin Goes After Her Own Network, Calling for Reform

Ad

MSNBC contributor Jennifer Rubin launched a scathing attack on her own network, as well as her colleagues Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, on her podcast “Jen Rubin’s Green Room.” Rubin, a Washington Post columnist, criticized her employer’s business model, saying it’s “dying” and that MSNBC is hemorrhaging its audience.

Rubin accused Scarborough and Brzezinski of “forgetting” that their audience “despises Trump” and that viewers wanted them to “hold the line against Trump” instead of engaging with the incoming president. She questioned their motivation for meeting with President-elect Donald Trump, suggesting it was an attempt to defend themselves or avoid retribution.

Rubin also expressed frustration with MSNBC’s habit of recycling the same topics and talking points, and suggested that the network is failing to innovate and reach new audiences. She said that viewers “get more from a John Oliver monologue” than they do from watching CNN or MSNBC.

Rubin called on MSNBC to rethink its business model and suggested that it look to other successful media outlets, such as The Onion and Info Wars, for inspiration. She warned that Democrats are failing to explore new avenues for communicating with the public and urged them to be more innovative and creative.

Rubin’s criticism of her network and colleagues has sparked debate, with some defending the network and others agreeing that it needs to change its approach. The controversy follows a similar incident in which Rubin fueled a boycott against “Morning Joe” over their meeting with Trump, saying that they “don’t appreciate” their audience and are “going to lose lots of them” if they continue to disappoint viewers.

Rubin did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment, while a spokesperson for MSNBC declined to comment on the matter.
