Mitt Romney Predicts GOP’s 2028 Presidential Nominee

Outgoing Sen. Mitt Romney believes that JD Vance will become the GOP’s 2028 presidential nominee, referring to him as “smart” and “well-spoken.” This comes after Trump selected Vance as his running mate in the 2024 presidential election, which they won against the Democratic ticket.

In an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union,” Romney also stated that the GOP has become the party of the working-class and middle-class voter, crediting Trump for the shift. He believes that the Democratic Party has lost its middle-class base, with union workers and other working-class Americans defecting to the GOP.

Romney attributed the Democratic Party’s troubles to their stance on issues such as defunding the police and allowing biological males in female sports. He stated that the party is now perceived as “rich people, but as college professors and woke scolds” and warned that they may struggle to recover.

When asked if he was concerned about being targeted for retribution, Romney expressed no worries, believing that Trump will focus on the future and not seek revenge. He noted that he is not seeking re-election and has no intention of running again.

Romney also made some humorous remarks, stating that he does not think he will be remembered in history, but only hopes his family remembers him fondly.
