Mike poised for record-breaking achievement.

Evans Aims for 11th Straight 1,000-Yard Season Against Saints

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are entering the final game of the season against the New Orleans Saints, and wide receiver Mike Evans is on the cusp of yet another remarkable achievement. He needs only 85 yards to secure his 11th straight 1,000-yard season, a feat he has accomplished every year since 2014.

This season, the Bucs have a history of success when Evans reaches 85 or more yards, with a 4-0 record in such games. His importance to the offense cannot be overstated, and teammate Baker Mayfield acknowledges this. “Mike is a huge part of this offense and a huge part of this passing game, and so getting him involved early and often is a lot of the reason we’ve had success,” he said.

Evans has already set a record for most consecutive 1,000-yard seasons to start a career, and now he is within reach of another milestone, potentially tying Jerry Rice for the most consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns. The all-time leader has 14 1,000-yard seasons in his career, and Evans would draw closer to that mark with an 11th consecutive season.

Despite a hamstring injury that cost him three games this season, Evans sits at 915 yards, just 85 short of the mark. Mayfield, his quarterback, will be his biggest supporter in achieving this goal, and the Bucs’ entire team will be working together to help him reach the milestone. “Mike won’t say much about it, and that’s just who he is,” Mayfield said. “That’s why we love him, that’s why everybody loves him, that’s why he’s been so consistent for so long. It’s never been about just himself; it’s been about winning and trying to find ways to win.”
