A Michigan Man Allegedly Stabs Company President in Possible ‘Copycat’ Attack
A Michigan man, identified as Nathan Mahoney, 32, has been accused of stabbing the president of the company he worked for, Erik Denslow, during a staff meeting on Tuesday. The incident is being viewed as a possible “copycat” attack, in reference to the recent murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
The alleged attack occurred around 9:20 a.m. when Mahoney got up from the meeting, left the room, and returned 10 minutes later, and allegedly stabbed Denslow in the side. Denslow, who has been working at Anderson Express Inc. as president since January 2022, underwent surgery and is currently in serious but stable condition.
Mahoney, who had only worked for the company for a few weeks, was stopped by police and arrested 15 minutes after the attack. He is being held in the Muskegon County Jail on $501,000 bond, facing charges of assault with intent to murder and fleeing.
Police have not yet determined a motive for the attack, but are investigating Mahoney’s social media and electronic media accounts to determine a potential motive. The investigation is ongoing, but authorities are not ruling out the possibility of a copycat attack.
Anderson Express, the company where the attack occurred, has released a statement expressing shock and concern for Denslow’s recovery, as well as for their employees who are processing the senseless assault. The company statement also notes that Denslow has a good prognosis for a full and speedy recovery.
