Michelle Yeoh negotiates her return to Star Trek.

Michelle Yeoh Returns to Star Trek as Sinister Mirror Universe Emperor

Academy Award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh has returned to the Star Trek universe in the new series Star Trek: Section 31. Yeoh reprises her role as Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery, but this time as her sinister Mirror Universe counterpart, Emperor of the Terran Empire. The series marks a significant project in Yeoh’s filmography, following her Oscar-winning performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Star Trek: Section 31 is a Paramount+ exclusive series, and Yeoh’s involvement was a “no-brainer” for her. She was eager to return to the Star Trek universe and explore the character of Philippa Georgiou further. The series is executive produced by Alex Kurtzman, Craig Sweeny, and Michelle Yeoh herself, among others.

The series follows Yeoh’s character as she rules over the Terran Empire with an iron fist, and it is unclear if she is on a quest for redemption. ScreenRant spoke with Yeoh about her return to the Star Trek franchise and her experience playing the character.

Star Trek: Section 31 is now available to stream on Paramount+. The series is a 96-minute-long film and is directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi.
