Miami Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose taken to hospital after hard hit to head area

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose was carted off the field on Sunday after taking a hit to the head during the team’s 20-12 loss to the Houston Texans. He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, according to the team, and will be evaluated further.

The incident occurred in the third quarter when DuBose was attempting to catch a pass from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. He was hit with a helmet-to-helmet hit from Texans rookie safety Calen Bullock, who was flagged for unnecessary roughness.

DuBose was down on the field for over 10 minutes as medical personnel tended to him, eventually removing his jersey, unscrewing his facemask, and applying a neck brace before loading him into an ambulance. Players from both teams gathered around to offer support as DuBose received on-field care, with some praying for his well-being.

Tagovailoa expressed concern for DuBose’s well-being, saying he was “doing well” and “recovering.” He also wondered if he could have done anything differently with the pass to avoid the hit. “I’m my toughest critic when it comes to ball placement – when it comes to knowing where to go with the ball,” he said. “I just feel bad that I even put him in that situation to have gotten hit.”

DuBose, who was activated for the game after being on the injured list with a shoulder injury, is currently receiving treatment at Memorial Hermann hospital in Houston. The Dolphins’ quarterback finished the game saying, “You never want to be put in any of those situations, but you also understand that this is a physical sport.”
