Cam Ward, the University of Miami quarterback, drew controversy after not playing in the second half of the Pop-Tarts Bowl. Ward broke the Division I record for most passing touchdowns in a career (156) in the first half, surpassing Case Keenum. Many felt Ward took a risk playing in a meaningless bowl game, potentially as the No. 1 overall pick, while others believed he was selfishly playing for the record.

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal defended Ward, stating that he has been an exceptional and elite player, competitor, and teammate. Cristobal praised Ward’s legacy and predicted he will lead an NFL franchise to championships.

Ward and Shedeur Sanders are both in the conversation for being the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft, which is owned by the Tennessee Titans. Despite the controversy, Ward’s future in the NFL appears bright, with many expecting him to have a successful career.
