Mayor Eric Adams Blasts “Revolving Door” of Crime Ignoring

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Thursday that Americans are “tired of ignoring the revolving door of crime” and need solutions now to address the growing violence and crime that is plaguing communities across the country.

Speaking at a press conference, Adams, a former New York Police Department (NYPD) detective, said that he has seen first-hand how crime can tear families apart and erase the sense of public safety from a community.

“We’ve got to stop ignoring the reality of that revolving door of crime, where someone gets arrested, someone gets locked up, they get out, and they get arrested again, and they get out again, and they get arrested again, and so on and so on,” Adams said. “Ultimately, it’s the community that suffers, it’s the victims who suffer, and it’s the police officers who suffer the most because they’re put in these impossible situations.”

Adams has made addressing crime a top priority since taking office in December and has been working to implement a number of measures to increase public safety, including boosting the NYPD’s ranks, creating a new Office of the Mayor’s Problem-Solving Courts, and launching a comprehensive anti-violence strategy.
