Matthew Livelsberger Considered No Risk to Himself or Others.

A man identified as Matthew Livelsberger, a 37-year-old active-duty Green Beret, was involved in an incident outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day. Livelsberger reportedly detonated explosives and injured seven people, including himself, who died in the incident.

According to CNN, Livelsberger had sought mental health treatment through the Department of Veterans Affairs in recent months and was diagnosed with depression last year. However, he was not assessed to be a risk to harm himself or others.

Two messages left by Livelsberger were critical of Democrats and American culture. One message read, “Military and vets move on DC starting now. Militias facilitate and augment this activity.” He also wrote about occupying federal buildings and the campus of federal buildings by the hundreds of thousands, and taking steps to prevent Democrats from regaining power in government.

Despite being deemed not to be a threat to himself or others, investigators are reviewing Livelsberger’s phone data and messages to understand the motivations behind the incident. The incident remains under investigation, with authorities continuing to gather information about Livelsberger’s background and activities in the days leading up to the incident.
