The Mark Wahlberg Action Comedy, “The Family Plan,” Made a Big Splash on Apple TV+, and a Sequel is Now Officially in the Works
The action-comedy “The Family Plan,” which premiered on Apple TV+ in December 2023, has officially received a sequel. The original film, starring Mark Wahlberg as a former assassin trying to lead a normal life, managed to make a big impact on the streaming platform, becoming the most viewed movie up to that point. Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, the film’s success has led to the development of a sequel.
The first film’s director, Simon Cellan Jones, and writer, David Coggeshall, will be returning for the sequel. Mark Wahlberg, who plays the lead role of Dan Morgan, will also be reprising his character.
New additions to the cast include Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington, who will be playing an unknown role in the sequel. His character’s role is being kept under wraps, but it’s rumored he might be playing a villain.
The new film will follow the Morgan family as they take a trip to Europe, where Dan’s shadowy past comes back to haunt him. A new threat emerges, putting the family in danger. The action-comedy will likely feature plenty of exciting set pieces and family-friendly humor, as well as a new villain for Dan to face.
Other returning cast members include Michelle Monaghan, Van Crosby, and Zoe Colletti, who will be reprising their roles as Dan’s wife and children. The sequel is currently in pre-production, with no release date announced.
