Marshon Lattimore makes Washington Commanders debut against Saints in first game since New Orleans trade.

Lattimore Makes Debut with Commanders, Eyes Impressive Start

Marcus Lattimore, a premier corner in the NFL, has made a name for himself with the New Orleans Saints, earning four Pro Bowl trips and the 2017 Defensive Rookie of the Year award. However, with the Saints struggling, the likelihood of a trade involving Lattimore increased, and on November 5, he was sent to the Washington Commanders in exchange for draft picks.

A hamstring injury prevented Lattimore from making an immediate impact, but the Commanders never viewed this as a short-term play. Now, they’ll get their first look at how Lattimore can affect their defense against an opponent he knows intimately.

“I just want to be if not the best, one of the best on the field, you know, just show everybody,” Lattimore said. “That’s really it. I just want to help my team win. That’s what I’m going into the game thinking: Be the best I can be, and try to be the best on the field so we can win.”

Lattimore joins a Commanders defense that has transformed itself from the worst unit in the NFL in 2023 to the 12th-ranked unit in 2024, and he has the opportunity to make a significant impact. With a chance to make a first impression on Sunday, Lattimore is eager to show what he can do and help his new team win.
