Mark Wahlberg plays the villain in Flight Risk, an action thriller that had promise but ultimately fell short of expectations. The film’s story revolves around Captain Broyles, a pilot who is actually a hitman hired to kill a US Marshal and a witness on a flight. However, Madolyn (Michelle Dockery) and Winston (Topher Grace) discover the truth and manage to take down the pilot, ending the chaos.

Mark Wahlberg’s character failing to kill Madolyn and Winston is a letdown, but the film did provide a glimpse into his character’s past. It is revealed that he killed the real pilot, Daryl Booth, off-screen, removing his eyes, teeth, and fingers. This gruesome act is meant to show the extent of the hitman’s brutality and hint at his enjoyment of taking lives.

Despite Wahlberg’s sinister performance, the film missed an opportunity to make his character even more terrifying by not showing the scene of Daryl Booth’s gruesome murder. If Flight Risk had shown the extent of the violence, it would have provided a more intense and unsettling experience for the audience. As it stands, the villain is simply a one-dimensional character.

The film’s mixed reception on Rotten Tomatoes reflects the mixed feelings towards Wahlberg’s performance. While he does try to play a sinister character, it’s not enough to make a lasting impression. Overall, Flight Risk is an action-packed thriller with some intense moments, but it fails to deliver a truly memorable villain in Mark Wahlberg’s character.
