A 68-year-old man was stabbed to death on New Year’s Eve in Birmingham, Alabama, and the suspects were arrested just days later. Earnest Christion Jr., a U.S. military veteran, was found unresponsive and suffering from a stab wound at a home in Birmingham. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
An investigation was launched, and authorities offered cash rewards for tips, eventually leading to the arrest of two suspects, 60-year-old Zingy Gamble and her 40-year-old son, La Verne Gamble. Zingy, who was reportedly dating Christion at the time, is believed to have stabbed him over a dispute about money.
The two suspects were arrested and taken into custody, with Zingy Gamble being held without bond and La Verne booked on a $15,000 bond. Christion’s family has remembered him as a “beacon of joy and love,” citing his infectious sense of humor, unwavering positivity, and love for his family as key characteristics of his personality.
