A Fatal Feline Encounter: Man Dies After Being Scratched by His Own Cat
A tragic incident has rocked the Leningrad region of Russia, as a 55-year-old man, Dmitry Ukhin, was killed by his own cat, Styopka, after trying to stop the pet from running away. The fateful encounter occurred at Ukhin’s home in the Kirishsky District, where he brought back his pet, which had escaped two days prior.
On Friday, November 22, Ukhin and Styopka returned home, and disaster struck when the cat scratched Ukhin’s leg, causing him to bleed severely. As a diabetic, Ukhin’s body was unable to form clots, exacerbating his injuries. With his wife, Natalya, out, Ukhin was forced to call his neighbors and emergency services for help.
Paramedics were eventually called, but Ukhin had already succumbed to his injuries by the time they arrived. A local police officer confirmed that the extent of Ukhin’s injuries made it unlikely he survived the ordeal.
This incident is not the only recent case of an animal unexpectedly killing a human in Russia. In a separate incident, a massive bear killed a father and son after breaking into their home in the Primorsky region. The bear had also mauled 35 dogs at a nearby shelter, highlighting the dangers of animal attacks in the region.
