An MS-13 gang member, 19-year-old Luis Adolfo Guerra Perez, was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents last week in Massachusetts. Guerra, a Guatemalan citizen, had pending drug and gun charges and had previously been ordered to be deported by an immigration judge.

Guerra was initially arrested on March 21, 2021, after illegally entering the United States through the southern border. He was issued a notice to appear before an immigration judge, but was released by federal authorities on May 8, 2021. In October 2024, an immigration judge ordered him to be deported.

However, on January 3, Guerra was arraigned in East Boston District Court on several charges, including possession of a large capacity weapon/firearm, possession of a class D controlled substance, possession of a firearm without permit, and possession of ammunition. Despite being a member of a gang and facing pending drug and gun charges, the court ignored an ICE detainer request and ordered his release on January 22.

Guerra is currently in federal custody. According to ICE, “Luis Adolfo Guerra-Perez is an illegally present gang member, who has shown complete disregard for American laws. He is a member of a violent street gang charged with illegally possessing a high-capacity firearm and drugs. We will not tolerate such offenders to threaten the residents of our New England neighborhoods.”
