Played by Samuel L. Jackson, Mace Windu is known for his unique rank in the Jedi Order, serving as the Master of the Order and having the final say in any deadlock. However, there is evidence to suggest that Mace Windu was also behind a secret, clandestine program during the Clone Wars.
The Jedi Order conducted black ops missions during the Clone Wars, as revealed in Christie Golden’s novel Dark Disciple. Another example is the Jedi operative Bode Akuna, who was taught some dark side Force powers and could conceal his presence in the Force. There’s no reason to assume Bode was the only one of these agents.
Elite Clone Commandos were also involved in clandestine operations, with units like Clone Force 99 and other Clone Commando units that were genetically engineered to possess unique skills and abilities. Mace Windu’s role in these operations was previously unclear, but recent preview pages for Star Wars: The Bad Batch – Ghost Agents #4 reveal that he is the one issuing orders to the Bad Batch.
This raises questions about Mace Windu’s secret role during the Clone Wars. He skirted close to the dark side and was forged as a master through war, making him more comfortable with these operations than his fellow Council members.
