Luigi Mangione hires ex-DA with insider connections to gain legal upper hand in NYC.

Luigi Mangione Hires New York Attorney Karen Friedman Agnifilo to Represent Him in Murder Trial

Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has hired a new attorney, Karen Friedman Agnifilo, to represent him. Agnifilo is a former assistant district attorney who helped prosecute the Harvey Weinstein case in New York and has a reputation for being well-versed in the state’s court system.

Agnifilo comes from a powerful law firm in Los Angeles, Geragos & Geragos, which also represents the Menendez brothers. She was previously a legal analyst for CNN and has co-hosted the podcast “MissTrial” with former New York Congresswoman Kathleen Rice and ex-federal prosecutor E. Danya Perry.

Mangione’s decision to hire Agnifilo comes as he faces extradition to New York and multiple crowdfunding attempts to raise money for his defense have been made. Agnifilo’s expertise in the New York court system may be beneficial in navigating the complex legal process.

Meanwhile, authorities are working to have Mangione extradited to New York and are seeking a governor’s warrant from Pennsylvania, where he was arrested, to bring him back to face justice. Should the warrant be granted, it could take over a month to complete the process. New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch has said that police have matched a gun found on Mangione with the shell casings recovered at the scene and his fingerprints with a water bottle and energy bar wrapper found nearby.
