Luigi Mangione held in connection with UnitedHealthcare CEO murder.

Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old suspect in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, was arrested at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on Monday morning. Mangione was recognized by a manager at the restaurant and was found to be in possession of four fake IDs, a gun, and a silencer, as well as a manifesto denouncing the health insurance industry.

Mangione was charged in Pennsylvania with various crimes, including forgery, firearms offenses, and tampering with records. He was also charged with murder and other crimes in New York City, where the murder took place.

According to authorities, Mangione did not speak to interrogators and was put in a holding cell. It is unlikely that he will be extradited to New York City for several days, as authorities need to decide whether to pursue local or federal charges.

Former FBI Agent Jason Pack said that Mangione’s future movement will depend on whether he waives extradition. If he does not waive extradition, a judge will decide whether to extradite him.

The investigation into the murder is ongoing, with police collecting forensic evidence and DNA samples from Mangione. The NYPD has an “enormous” amount of forensic evidence in the case, including a water bottle and a backpack left at the scene.

Mangione’s arrest was a result of a swift response by local police, who received tips and were able to track him down. The police department’s response was commended by former FBI Agent John Ryan, who said that without their efforts, the suspect may have gone unnoticed.
