Luca Meixner, 22, German club soccer player, dies young.



Luca Meixner, a 22-year-old soccer player who played for SSV Reutlingen 05 in Germany, has died, the club announced on Saturday. The cause of death was not immediately revealed.

Meixner joined the main SSV Reutlingen 05 team in 2021 after spending four years at the youth level. He appeared in 100 matches for the club and scored six goals. He played in the club’s final match on December 7 before the winter break, playing 87 minutes in a 1-1 tie against Balingen.

The club has paid tribute to Meixner on its website, posting photos in his memory. The entire SSV family is “deeply disturbed and stunned” by the news, and the club’s thoughts are with Meixner’s family, friends, and companions.

Meixner’s death comes as a shock to the soccer community, and the club has not revealed the cause of his death.
