With several of Donald Trump’s Cabinet picks set to have their Senate confirmation hearings this week, the president-elect has named three additional people to deputy roles in the Interior and Transportation departments and the Environmental Protection Agency.
David Fotouhi has been chosen to be the deputy EPA administrator. Fotouhi was the EPA’s acting general counsel during the end of Trump’s first term and is currently a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher law firm. If confirmed, Fotouhi will likely play a key role in starting the process to repeal several of the Biden EPA’s biggest rules on climate.
Katharine MacGregor has been selected to be the deputy interior secretary. MacGregor previously held this role during the last year of Trump’s first term and worked within the department for all four years of his term. She is currently the vice president of environmental services at NextEra Energy, a renewable energy company.
Steve Bradbury has been chosen to be the deputy transportation secretary. Bradbury was the Transportation Department’s general counsel during Trump’s first administration, although his confirmation was initially met with opposition from late Sen. John McCain due to Bradbury’s support of torture practices during the George W. Bush administration.
Sean Duffy, former congressman and recent Fox Business co-host, has been selected to lead the Department of Transportation. The department oversees infrastructure, and if confirmed, Duffy will inherit several safety-related issues surrounding aviation and the threat of an airline labor union strike.
