Victims of the New Orleans Attack Identified
The victims of the recent attack in New Orleans have been identified, including a student, a former college football player, and parents of young children. Authorities have yet to release the names of the victims publicly, but some have been identified by their loved ones.
Among the victims is Tiger Bech, a 27-year-old from Lafayette, Louisiana, who was a former Princeton football player and worked as a junior trader in New York City. He was killed from internal injuries sustained during the attack.
Matthew Tenedorio, a 25-year-old from Slidell, Louisiana, worked on the video production team for ASM, which manages several venues in New Orleans. He was last seen having dinner with his family on New Year’s Eve and had been warned by his family not to go out that night.
Reggie Hunter, 37, from Baton Rouge, leaves behind an 11-year-old child and a one-year-old. He was with his cousin, Kevin Ball, when the attack occurred, and both were taken to the hospital. Hunter later succumbed to his injuries, while Ball is recovering.
Other victims of the attack include Kareem Badawi, a 22-year-old graduate of the University of Alabama, and Hubert Gauthreaux, a 21-year-old alumnus of Archbishop Shaw High School. Gauthreaux was a close friend of New Orleans City Council member Helena N. Moreno, who spent time with his family as they searched for him after the attack.
Drew Dauphin, a 26-year-old graduate of Auburn University, is also among the victims. His family described him as someone who “lit up every room he entered” and had an infectious smile. Nicole Perez, 27, is the mother of a five-year-old son, and her sister, Jessica Carvajal, who is eight months pregnant, was hospitalized after learning of her sister’s death.
Finally, Billy DiMaio, a 25-year-old from New York, was a rising executive at Audacy and was known for his positive attitude and kindness. His colleagues remember him fondly, praising his work ethic and positive outlook on life.
As the city of New Orleans continues to mourn the loss of these individuals, loved ones and friends are sharing stories of their loved ones, saying goodbye, and supporting each other through this difficult time.
