[President-elect Donald Trump Announces $20 Billion Investment in Data Centers across the US
President-elect Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that Emirati billionaire Hussain Sajwani will invest at least $20 billion in data centers across the United States. The announcement was made at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, where Sajwani owns a property-development company called DAMAC Properties, based in Dubai.
Trump described Sajwani as a “very respected gentleman” who was “inspired” by Trump’s election and will invest at least $20 billion over a short period of time, potentially doubling or even tripling that amount. Sajwani has previously invested in data centers across Southeast Asia and has maintained close ties with Trump, although he turned down a $2 billion investment in the Trump Organization in 2017.
As president, Trump vowed to expedite the permitting process for construction projects that invest at least $1 billion in the US. Sajwani’s investment will likely benefit from this expedited process. Trump’s relationship with Sajwani has been consistent, with the two having maintained a strong connection despite the controversy surrounding the 2021 Capitol storming on January 6.
Sajwani is known as “The Donald of Dubai” and was one of the few international business investors who continued to maintain a relationship with Trump following the Capitol storming.
