Detroit Lions Celebrate Historic Win Over Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving Day

Ad

The Detroit Lions made some history on Thanksgiving Day as they defeated their NFC North-rival Chicago Bears, 23-20. The Lions improved their record to 11-1, the first time in the franchise’s history they’ve achieved this feat. The Bears fell to 4-8 on the season.

The Lions’ defense played a crucial role in the win, shutting out the Bears in the first half. It was the first time this season the Lions had kept a team scoreless in the first half. Quarterback Jared Goff and the Lions’ offense put up 16 points in the first half, with kicker Jake Bates notching three field goals.

Tight end Sam LaPorta had a big game, scoring two touchdowns, including a 3-yard reception from Goff in the second quarter. The Bears got back into the game in the second half, with quarterback Caleb Williams leading a comeback effort. Williams threw three touchdown passes, but the Lions were able to respond each time.

Despite the Bears’ efforts, the Lions were able to hold on for the win. A weird ending to the game saw Williams sacked and unable to get a play off in time, resulting in an incomplete pass and the end of the game.

Running backs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs had a strong game for the Lions, with Gibbs tallying 87 yards on nine carries. Quarterback Jared Goff went 21-of-34 for 221 yards, while wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown had 73 yards on five receptions.
