The Lions Defense Exceeds Expectations with Coach Sheppard at the Helm

Last season, the Lions boasted a top-five defense, earning a spot in the NFC title game in 2023 and finishing as the NFC’s top seed in 2024 despite dealing with injuries.
Sheppard has shown the ability to get his players to exceed expectations. In 2024, despite missing several key players due to injury, he was able to maintain a top-five ranked defense. Although the injuries ultimately caught up with the Lions, Sheppard’s ability to adapt and overcome challenges is evident.
As for the current situation, Sheppard has risen up the ranks from being a former NFL player turned coach. He played eight seasons in the NFL as a linebacker before joining the Lions in 2018 for his final season.
